2023 Color of the Year: Viva Magenta 18-1750 according to Pantone.
I always find it fascinating to see the color of the year. I love to see if it resonates with me or how it resonates with me to be more precise. Does it inspire? Do I feel pulled to use this color?
According to Pantone: “Pantone’s Color of the Year, Viva Magenta 18-1750, vibrates with vim and vigor. It is a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.
This year’s Color of the Year is powerful and empowering. It is a new animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta welcomes anyone and everyone with the same verve for life and rebellious spirit. It is a color that is audacious, full of wit, and inclusive of all.”
This color is beautiful and I can see it as an accent color used with these color combos.
I think it’s fascinating that color can evoke so much emotion just as words, images, and music can. While this is not an exact science as each person feels differently it comes pretty close. Do the colors in this chart reflect your feelings?
I have always gravitated toward the color blue unconsciously. For years I thought my favorite colors were neutrals, browns, greys, or creams. About 10 years ago, someone told me my favorite color should be blue, not earthy browns. I was taken aback and asked why do you say that and she said look at your wall colors, your decor pieces, they all gravitate towards blues. Huh, she was right. Unconsciously I was picking blues not because I thought they were my favorite but because it was pleasing to my senses.
Do you have a favorite color? Now look around your house, what is the color that you decorate the most with? Does it match?
